World Health Organization Declares Worldwide Pandemic of H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu):  Effective June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a worldwide pandemic of the H1N1 flu.  This declaration was in response to the spread of this flu around the world, not because of the severity of the illness caused.  Home operators seeking information about the H1N1 flu, including prevention, treatment, and care of a person who is sick with the H1N1 flu can go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/, or to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at http://www3.niaid.nih.gov/topics/Flu/default.htm.  (Information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “H1N1 Flu,”  http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/).
